Come and join us for our vacation Bible school from July 7th - 11th! Dr. Chaos will be with us to teach us some important Bible truths through different scientific experiments. VBS is for kids going into kindergarten through 6th grade. It will be a blast!
Not only is it time for VBS, but it is also time to celebrate our nation's independence. I believe, sadly, that this is something most Americans take for granted. America will celebrate her 232nd year. It breaks my heart to see where this country has gone in those years. She was founded upon Bible principles. Our forefathers extensively used the Bible in writing our Constitution. All of our freedoms are based upon freedoms found in the Bible.
Calvin Coolidge once said, "The foundations of our society and our government rest so much on the teachings of the Bible that it would be difficult to support them if faith in these teachings would cease to be practically universal in our country."
Most of those who helped to build this country were men of prayer. Americans used to spend much time praying for this country. Christians used to pray. I am convicted every time I read the epistles of Paul, especially when he mentions that he would pray without ceasing for those people to whom he ministered. How can we expect God's blessing on this country when even Christians do not pray for America without ceasing?
Abraham Lincoln once made a statement, that if true in his day, is certainly true today. He said, "We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied, and enriched, and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us! It behooves us, then to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness."
I plead with Christians all over this great country to take heed to the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14, where God says, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." It is up to us, Christians, to obey the conditions of this promise if we are to see God heal our land!
